WHO IS A YINZER ABROAD?

You might be asking yourself, "What is a yinzer?"  Well, that's what those of us who hail from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania call ourselves.  I'm a proud yinzer and love life in the 'burgh, but I am also very passionate about travel and cultural immersion.

The first time I ever left the country or even the East coast was when I was 17 years old, on an exchange trip to Germany for one month.  I was so fascinated by everything: the cultural differences, the different way of life, the language.  This opportunity allowed me to gain a global perspective and changed my life forever.

​

Yes, I caught the travel bug, having since traveled to 21 other countries.  However, I believe in responsible travel, meaning trying to truly immerse yourself in the local culture and gaining global competencies to increase cultural awareness. 

​

I fell in love with travel and cultural immersion so much that I decided to make a career out of it. I work as a Global Experiences Manager, helping undergraduate students explore their options and find the best global experience to fit their needs and goals.

 

In my free time and while I travel, I love to capture the beauty of the places I have visited through the lens of my camera. I primarily shoot film, as I love how authentic the photos come out, but I also shoot with my digital camera. You can visit my photography portfolio here.
